How It Works
Plan on getting to the track early, gates usually open at 6:30 am. Since this is probably your first time at the track, you've got a lot to do with both handling track day registration, bike prep and picking up your gear. Don't stress yourself, show up early. If you live more than two hours away, you will probably want to come in the night before and find a motel. How do I handle registration and the paperwork? First thing you'll need to do is fill out a registration form (unless you've registered on the web or faxed one in). You can download the registration form in Microsoft Word format here, and fill it out in advance, that will save some time on the morning of the school. Registering in advance also insures that we have some leathers to fit you, if you wait until that morning we may rent out before you show up, and you're last in line! The fitting order is as follows: prepaid and pre-registered are first, then pre-registered and then walkups. We reserve the right to release unclaimed leathers after the riders meeting starts for rental to another party unless we have heard from you that you are on the way. If you pre-register, you'll get an email or phone call from me with my cell number if you need to reach me that morning. Okay, now the paperwork is done...it's time to get fitted. We'll make a best guess on what should fit if we haven't already, and then send you to the back of the trailer where the changing area is set up with chairs and such. Once suited up, we'll make sure things fit to your satisfaction, and then you are all set. If you live in or around the Houston area, you can also come into our store location at Motorcycles Unlimited 1964 FM 1960 West. 281-444-0545 When do I return the gear (or how to avoid late fees!) ...after a great day on the track, it's time to bring the gear back. All rental gear needs to be turned in by 5:00 to avoid a $20 late charge...I need your gear back before I can start packing! Come on over and we'll check everything in. Once we get everything back, you get your driver's license and deposit check back (if everything is okay) and your ready to start packing up. Once the form is filled out, you'll need to surrender your driver's license (it's part of the deposit). This gets clipped to the registration form and we'll return it to you when you return the equipment. A credit card for the $699.00 damage deposit is now required, at the end of the day the card is returned to you if you do not forfeit the deposit. If a handlebar touches the ground, you will at least be charged a $25.00-$50.00 cleaning fee. If there is actual damage to the leathers beyond just dirt, you forfeit $450.00 of the deposit. Congrats, you've just bought a new Fieldsheer suit! If the boot and gloves get damaged as well, you will forfeit the entire $699.00 deposit. If you damage the gloves, you will forfeit $139.00 of the deposit. If you drag your toes around the track to the point you go through the slider and into the boot itself, you will be subject to forfeiture up to $389.00 of the deposit. You'll also own boots with holes in the toes. So if you feel your toes dragging, tuck 'em in. If you don't know how, come ask me and I'll work with you on proper foot positioning. Knee sliders, minor scrapes are free, if you decide to grind them up you buy them for $20.00. If you go through them into the suit you buy the suit, no exceptions! There is no reason to tear up the suit by dragging a knee. If you wear out a set of sliders, simply walk over and get new ones. If you pay for the sliders before hand, you keep them. If you do not return the suit / boots / gloves by the end of the day your card will be charged Full Retail Pricing for the missing gear which can be as high as $1039.00!! World Exclusive TRACKLEATHER SimuCrash™ Now, if you are planning on crashing just to get a good deal on a suit, do us both a favor and use the exclusive TRACKLEATHER SimuCrash™ crash simulation service. Bring your bike to the trailer, and we'll push it off the ramp onto a PitBull stand. It'll mangle your bodywork without risking personal injury, and you can still keep the suit! Must show proof that it's your bike ;-)
